Following the Danube

Well as some of you might know, at the end of May I head off back to Europe to carry on with my motorbike adventures. Last time I was really grateful to have the loan of a Honda Pan European from Fritz.

I started in Switzerland and traveled through Germany, Poland, The Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Corsica, France and back to Switzerland. I did 12,000 ks in 2 months.

This time around I have my own bike. A BMW R1150 GS that my friend, Adrian, found for me in Poland.

I am yet to see the bike but is perfect for my plans which is to follow the course of the Danube River, or Donau for those Germans out there.

You can read about the Danube by clicking HERE! It starts in Germany and passes through Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and the Ukraine (won’t be visiting that one this time).

So a bit of an adventure really. I also plan to travel up the Eastern Adriatic so visiting Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia again and Slovenia.

Then I have to head North back to Krakow for a wedding on July 28th before catching up with Julia Maelzer (she is buying a bike) and exploring the Alps between Northern Italy and Austria.

After that, if there is time, I want to ride around the coast of Italy, Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica before heading to France as I really want to ride over this…the tallest bridge in the world.

Lastly, somewhere along the way I have to get back to Switzerland to catch up with Lucie et Mila……

So if anyone has any tips or ideas of places I must visit along the way then please let me know. I will have my SPOT (Personal GPS Tracker) and you can track the trip on the Map icon on the top of the page.
